I've done a couple of events with those guys. They are a lot of fun and always have a pretty good turnout. They also offer(at least they did) a $100.00 discount if it's your first event running with them, can't beat that.

Looks like I am going to miss this event - I tore my calf muscle over the weekend.

Whomever punked out on this event missed a good one.  I went Sunday for the Time Trial.  Perfect late Fall conditions.  It was warm enough to heat the tires and the track, but boy, the motors loved the cool dense air.  The BDC ran tip top, and thanks to FF for getting Ed Hunter's old built T5 in her in time for the race. Temps were spot on all day, including idling in paddock and grid.  It shifts a little different, and I blew a few, but it sure was nice not to have that crunchy sound dropping into third at turn 1.

EMRA is a fun club.  Laid back and, shall we say, race oriented.  The TT format was everyone in the group on track at once, every lap timed, and the passing by point by only rule interpreted more like "try to be nice and don't kill each other," so there was the ocassional duel. Lots of heavy iron and fast drivers.  I ran in intermediate, but nearly everyone was fast and experienced and drove prepped cars.  There was no shame in that, as it turned out, because it was less crowded than the advanced group.  That group seemed to have a number cars slower than our group, and the traffic really hampered the fast guys' ability to get a clear enough track for a hot lap.

It was a bad day for Corvettes. Fred won one of those duels I mentioned with another fast C4, whose driver made the mistake of thinking he could match the Fast One's corner speed and braking, and ended up in the dirt, but with no contact.  And a silver late model Z06 also went off at 5, but went through the tire wall into the concrete, and really banged it up.

Fred almost took the FTD trophy, but a big black nasty 700 hp Corvette with a giant wing squeaked by him by 3 tenths for the win.

Jen, Larry and Andy Thomas were over at the SCCA Rallycross eating dirt and they stopped by to say hi at lunch.   All in all a great way to end the track day season!  Sorry you missed it.

This event is alway alot of fun, this year even better. The EMRA guys enlisted the entire flagging and timing crew from Watkins Glen to run the event. All pro flaggers at every station and every lap of every participant posted promtly. The were on or slightly ahead of schedule all weekend.

As for the TT portion... I did the sat practice and the AM Sat on some really old narrow tires. I was saving the good tires for the PM tt sessions. After the Sun AM I had a decent lead and was definately looking forward to the new rubber.. Didn't really work out, the first PM session saw a C6 Z06 put it hard into the wall, ambulance, wreaker, and black flag.

Everything looked good in the next session, after getting the tires up to temp I went for a lap, got as far as turn 10, (which is the scary one), and the car immediatly went completely sideways at speed. I managed to not wreak it, and limp in. The upper left rear control arm was broken and the wheel swing free. Lucky me.

So The Vette had a few more sessions and finally ruined the rest of my day. Everyone else was very happy for him for some strange reason. They had a huge gaudy bowling type trophy for the fastest lap of the weekend, races and TT, I wanted it badly. L1 again.

I did 1:19.7 on the old tires. I was hoping for around 1:17 when it counted.

Mine were nothing like that, or even to write home about, much less to post here, in the Roman Colieseum of armchair motorsports critics.  They were a hell of a lot faster than anyone's who didn't go.

But I liked my lines, am getting the hang of where to shovel on more coal on the Main Circuit, and it was nice to not have to worry about the car.

Ed, your trans worked great.  One and two have more gear whine than mine, which sounded kind of cool.

He didn't mention it, but Fred sorta got screwed, because the large Advanced group only ran once in the am.  Our group (intermediate) got two am sessions, including a very sunny 20 minutes around 11:10-11:30, which was the sweet spot of the day.  By their second session after lunch the clouds had rolled in and it cooled off noticeably.  Also, Advanced's second session (in which Fred was rocking, and sporting the fresher rubber) was cut short by the black flag caused by the ugly Z06 crash. And then he busted the control arm a few laps into in the third, while the black Vette got the whole third session to get it done, and, after FF's mechanical, no real competition from the other cars out.

A 1:19 is really moving, Fred.  Glad to hear that Jim was not injured.
