2012 New Years Day Freedom Cruise
« on: December 15, 2011, 09:22:24 am »
This year, in honor of the 70th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the beginning of WWII, we will be visiting or observing as many military and war memorial sites as possible. I ran the recon route on 12/15 with the Protector.

Stay tuned....

UPDATED 12/19

>Below is the tentative route.

>I have confirmed the reservations at the Union Street Public House restaurant.

>As in the past, those who are coming from Northern VA, we will assemble at Cooper School 977 Balls Hill Rd, McLean, VA  (Exit 44 on the Beltway)

>We will depart at 9:30 AM and proceed in on the GW parkway.

>We will be stopping at the Marine and Air Force Memorials, Tidal Basin, & Capitol and ending up in Old Town Alexandria for lunch.

>You can join the cruise anywhere along the route.

> All times are approximate, expect them to vary somewhat.

>Expect to be separated into smaller groups along the cruise, do not count on following the car ahead of you.

>PLEASE PRINT THESE DIRECTIONS and bring them with you. (I may bring extras if I feel like it.)

>Take a navigator/passenger and use a GPS if you get lost.

>Rain or Snow,  cruise will be rescheduled, date TBD.

Update:

I have renamed the cruise the 2012 CACC New Years Day Freedom Cruise. The directions will be posted shortly. They will be pointing out those Military Memorials along the route that we cannot visit conveniently on the cruise.

Excellent - I will drive the 72 Sprint USA edition.   Did I tell you all about the time ten Mustang drivers almost got arrested twice downtown last 4th of July with Col Folsom driving a GT500 for the High Five tour at Iwo Jima and the Lincoln Memorial?
