Navy Museum and USS Barry DD 933
« on: December 18, 2011, 12:17:58 pm »
While researching the Military memorials for the 2012 New Years Day Freedom Cruise, I ran across the Navy Yard WEB site and realized that the US Navy Museum and USS Barry Destroyer are both open for visitors.

So being an ex Swab Jockey, I decided that I need to visit these when the weather gets warmer. Then, I thought, why not turn this in to a CACC cruise trip?

Any interest?

Friend of mine works at the museum and they have plenty of parking near the Barry.  I'll check with him after christmas.

OBTW the Barry has been there for quite some time!  And that section of DC has been cleaned up a lot.

I'd go.

Also, speaking of future outings.........there's a (relatively) new museum at the Naval Academy here in Annapolis.........I think it opened two summers ago.

The Ordnance Museum at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds (~80 miles) would have been a good cruise objective, but it's essentially closed and is in the process of being relocated to Ft Lee, VA. (~140 miles)
