WTB Tremec Trans
« on: January 23, 2012, 01:51:00 pm »
Anybody got a Tremec TKO 600 with 2.9ish first and .68 5th?  Exploring my options since engine out and I have a Tremec 3550 with a 3.27 1st and .68 5th.  This will be for sale if I purchase TKO600.

Ken...   I checked my stock and of the 11 trans that I have only 4 are TKO600's and they all have the .82 5th gear.   ;-)

Whoops...  Just got a call from a guy that wants to buy them all...    ::)

You really don't want that .68 fifth get the .82 or you will be purchasing another TKO 600.

Thanks Grasshopper O0   With a 3.70 rear end, its on the fence.  I already have a .68 and it OK at 70mph, however looking over the rpm/mph numbers now to decide. :coolsmiley:

not sure what size tire you're running...but if the usual 315/35-17 at 70 mph, you'll be just under 2400 with the .68 and just under 2900 with the .82

Wade...  while your numbers are correct I'm sure that Ken is actually more concerned with getting better gas mileage...    :D

He is very concerned with his carbon footprint...

I have to commensate for all the flatulation  :coolsmiley:

Yeah Wade, about a 500rpm difference or 12 mph for me.  But that was with the .68.  The 600 has a .64 and the .04 difference is yet another 4 mph.  So I'll have to drive at 75-80 mph to use OD with the .64  :crazy2:

I think I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel  :coolsmiley:

Wishful thinking Herb...
  Al  -

After looking over rpm versus mph charts, went with .82 overdrive.  Even with 3.7 rear gears, .64 was too much.  So I shopped around for tranny's.  Was going to go with Brothers at $2195 to my door, but then decided to call Sterling Ford.  They quoted a $2265 inc tax and I would get it sooner.  Not bad then I went to the man and he sweet talked them into $2100.  Thanks Elder

Hey Vic, I was just thinking, is OD in the Prism when you open the floor and run with your feet touchin the ground?

too bad you didn't think about this a month ago, I could have bought your 3550 instead of spending $600 on parts to rebuild mine.
