No longer need a Mustang Power Steering Rack.... DONE/FINISHED
« on: February 02, 2012, 05:56:02 pm »
Forget about what's below.  Fred had the answer and I already ordered a rack from Autozone - great price, warranty, and free shipping.  What's not to like....

The new rack showed up this morning - pretty good for free shipping.

I need to buy (yes, as in money can change hands) a power steering rack for my 1988 Mustang.  Must be standard Ford quick ratio rack complete with inner tie rods and boots.  I need it NOW.  Please pm me here or email me at herbsmith@aol.com or call me at 703-629-2613.  If I don't find one shortly - within 18 hours - I'll go out on ebay, etc. but would rather get one sooner if possible.  I will come and pick it up.

Thanks,
Herb

We've tried them all, and the 87-93 GT rack from Autozone is great, about $80.00 with a lifetime warranty. They have 3 ratios the gt is the 2.25 quick rack. If it's not in stock they can get it by noon. Order on-line for store pickup, or call.

That sounds like a deal.  Now I just need to find an AutoZone store.  Worst comes to worst I guess I can go up to Frederick for one.

Thanks very much...

Well, the online site said I had to order it for ship to home.  Would not let me ship to store.  However, that's no big problem  Price was right, $75 plus $18 core charge and shipping is free.  Very cool...

Thanks again Fred...

These are a good deal...  I'm on my second in the race car after I cranked the tie down straps to tight around the wheels and blew the seals out of the rack.  They replaced under warranty.  I just told them it leaked...   ::)

They did the same to me, not sure how they decide what goes to the store and what doesn"t.  Plus to get free shipping I had to join and if I don;t cancel in 30 days, I get charged $79. :crazy2:

Ken...  I didn't have to join.  I ignored the request and still got the free shipping.  You must have pissed them off...again.   :knuppel2:

Ken...  After thinking about the threads you've been involved in and the amount grief you get - not undeservedly - you may have earned a new name:

SPEED BAG    (You'll find one in every good boxer's gym.)

Glad you've got a thick hide like the SPEED BAG.
