Cobras are invited to Gaithersburg British Car Day!
« on: May 28, 2003, 06:34:53 pm »
Hi Guys, I wanted to pass on to you a terrific venue coming up on June 15th (Father's day) in Gaithersburg.  It's the 26th annual British Car Day Meet. I attended it last year with 3 other Cobras and had a ball. It was the first time, I believe, any Cobras were there. (AC Bristols, yes...AC Cobras
...no!) So this year, because of the Cobra's British lineage, I was called by the organizers to ask if I was interested in coming back with a minimum of at least 6 cars so that they assign a special section at the show to display our Cobras. (Last year we were placed in a 'miscellaneous'
grouping)   As president of the newly formed "Baltimore Cobra Club" I am interested in a good showing of our cars and thought it might be a good opportunity to have some of our guys meet some of your guys.  We already know a good number of you from the recent events at Summit Point and at VIR. This is an event that your spouses, or significant others and/or families would really enjoy too. The setting is on a very large and scenic farm (Smokey Glen Farm) at 16407 Riffleford Rd.  It's a wonderful day featuring every British car you can imagine (700 last year) with lots of great food at the event if you don't want to 'tail-gate' your own. The field opens at 8, judging from 11 to 1, and awards at 3.  Some of the guys from our club are going down and will be arriving around 10:30.  If you'd like to respond here so I can get an approximate head-count that would be great or if you have question I'll respond here as well. Or, if you care to call, my name is Walt Mcguire from Towson Md. and my cell # is 443-807-3167.  Hope we get to have a great showing. See ya.  Walt

Too bad!  I was hoping we could hook-up.  Lets try to do something then later in the summer.  Let us know if you have any ideas about events or venues that could work.  We heard that some of you meet for breakfast on saturday mornings somewhere.  That might work for a few of us.  Let me know where and what time.  Walt

Walt - every saturday, at the Vienna Inn (Vienna, VA), at 8am.  Most arrive a few minutes early to BS in the parking lot behind the Inn, and then we hang around afterwards to continue the BS session.  If the weather is nice, we'll get 10-12 Cobras.  If it's raining, we get a bunch of SUV's!  ;)  Typicall showing is 15-25 people.

Thanks for the iofo on the saturday breakfast group. I'll see if I can get a few early risers to join me in a trip down their sone for some bacon and eggs. By the way, if any of your guys aren't going to the spring fling planning meeting, the invitatation still holds for Gaitherburg.  Thake care.  Walt
