My name is Paul Hertel and I am President of Northern VA Corvette Club (NVCC). I would like to invite your club to an event we will be holding at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA on September 6th, 2003.  The rain date is set for October 12th, 2003.

The event is called “All American Iron” and will consist of a Car Show, Drag Race, Autocross (SCCA Solo II), and a swap meet.  Prize money will be awarded for the Drag Race and Autocross.  This event is open to any American Muscle / Sports car. We expect to have Corvettes (of course), Cobras,  Vipers, Mustangs, Cameros, Firebirds, and any other classic American muscle car or Hot Rod.

Event pre-registration is now available on ODS's web site as well as the event flyer.

http://www.olddominionspeedway.com

This event will fill up fast so register soon!

Hope to see you all there.  :D

Just so everyone understands the registration process for American Iron, you need to go to ODS's webpage http://www.olddominionspeedway.com

Right-click on the pre-registraion link under Amercian Iron announcment, click on save-as, and save the Word document to your local drive. Print it out, fill in the form indicating which events you wish to enter, and mail the form and your check to the address shown.

Thanks and hope to see you all there for the battle of American Iron.  :)

Also, what's up with 23 views and no posts?  Are you guys interested?

I'll be there!  :D:D:D

If I register for the drag racing AND the autocross, do I get one general admission ticket with EACH of them?  I'm trying to figure out if I need to pay the $10 admission for my wife, or does she get in with me?

That's great to hear Wade and you pose a good question.  I'll have an answer for you after my meeting with the owners of ODS on Thursday.  :D

You will get one admission ticket for each event you are registered.  So if you register for the auto-x and the drags, you will get two admission tickets.

It's getting close and there is a definate buzz on the streets about this event.

Autocross (SCCA Solo II)

Paul,
How will cars for the AX be categorized?  In past NVCC events, it seems like it has been on the basis of tires (street tires = Stock, slicks = Modified).  Will this be the criteria for the American Iron event or will cars run in Solo II classes?  Specifically, I have a FFR cobra with a stone stock 5.0 and daily driver street tires.  Stock or Modified?  Thanks for organizing this event.  Should be a ball.

You would be considered stock.  This year we are keeping it simple and only have two classes.  Stock is no major mods and street tires.  Modified is a car that has any modifications such as exhaust, slicks, motor mods, etc.  We will have to verify how people are classing their car during tech inspection.

I think next year we will have more classes grouped by a year criteria and then have a stock and modified class in each group.  This will depend on how many people we have auto-xing.

Thanks for your interest in our event and I'll see you there!

One more quick one, Paul.  The registration form says it must be received by 8/22  .  Can I still pre-register?  I can have it in the mail Monday, 8/25.

Yeah, you can still pre-reg because it should get there in time.  I imagine pre-reg should be shut down by the 1st.

DOH!!! I haven't had a chance to send in my registration yet. Is there going to be registration available at the gate? Or, should I just try to send it in and hope for the best?
