The new National Air & Space Musuem Annex near Dulles is scheduled to open in mid-December. Might make a nice post-VI cruise some Saturday morning. Sounds like the exhibits will be fairly interesting, including the Enola Gay.

i've been following this one in the papers. I am really into military planes, and absolutely for going to see this new display area.

I read somewhere - maybe here, maybe in the Post - that the engineer working on getting the Enola Gay back into shape, was a car guy. We might be able to roll that and CACC into a behind the scenes look.

The guy who was tasked with putting together the new Air and Space Museum, Tommy Alison, is a friend of mine. We're both pilots and have flown together a few times. He is also heads up all of the restoration efforts for the Air and Space Museum, and I know several of his restoration experts. He was also the last SR-71 squadron commender and was an amazing SR-71 pilot himself. He flies in aerobatic championships now. If there are interested people in our club, I might be able to hook us up with a tour of the Dulles facility before it opens. I've had offers from them before and have just never taken them up on it. There are some amazing aircraft out there already!

Let me know if you guys are interested and I'll call Tommy to see if we can set it up.

Yes... I flew in the Navy and they are having a special open house a week before it opens for military aviators, limited to 8,000 of their closest friends, so hadnt bothered to respond to the "personal" invite. I would love to go along on this...
