Weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park
« on: November 24, 2004, 07:16:30 pm »
On the weekend of 13-14 Nov., the Superformance Owners club (www.secondstrike.com) held a track weekend at Carloina Motorsports Park (about a hour South of Charlotte  www.carolinamotorsportspark.com/default.asp).

About 20 Cobras, 15 Mini-Coopers, and 15 other assorted cars attended.  Great time.  Sponsored by seondstrike and Olthoff racing and some Mini-Cooper dealers.

I'll try to keep CACC informed about the next event.

CMP is a great track and the event was excellent.  Doug and I went down and got a lot of track time.  Unfortunately, on the last lap of the last session on Saturday I broke a roller lifter which broke several other things and precluded my running on Sunday.  Being on the track with the Mini's was like running an Autocross where the cones keep moving.  Keep your eyes open for the Superformance spring event which may also be held at CMP or possibly at VIR if they can work out the issues with VIR regarding Cobras  --  roll bars that are too low  --  among other things.

There may also be a "private event" in the spring with a bunch of Cobra folks that are considering just renting CMP for a day.  Depends on how many people are interested and what level they are at.  If anyone is interested please let me know.  You can email me at czarsmith@aol.com.
