This event is conducted by NASA-SE region. Burt, Lee D. and I went last year and it was an absolute blast. Pictures from last year are @ http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/phpBB2/modules.php?set_albumName=album157&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&page=1

Video of one run up the hill can be viewed at: http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/files/MOV02569.MPG

Most of the Event info is available at.  http://www.snowshoehillclimb.com/index.html

Browse through the various sections of the site for info on the Hillclimb and the Car show. If you just want to attend as a spectator and/or enter the car show, you can register for that.

The Hillclimb format is similar to an autocross or a NASA HSDE.

1. You have to be a NASA member ($40 to register @  https://www.nasaproracing.com/joinrenew.html.

2. Register for the events online @  https://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/show/?event_id=367
Cost of the Hillclimb for 2 days is $149, Dinner tickets for Saturday $10, Car show on Saturday $40.

3.There are no specific classes listed for Cobras, but I think you will be grouped similar to vintage Corvettes & based on HP...i.e. Class TTD= 200-330HP ... TTC= 330-425HP... TTB= >425 HP. (I will contact NASA for confirmation.) But don't worry about the classes, as they will sort it out if you have the wrong class.

4. Print out the Tech form form and prep & tech your car before the event.   http://www.nasaproracing.com/images/rules-forms/form_race_tech.pdf
(Note Cobra style roll bars were acceptable last year.)

5. To make hotel reservations contact Snow Shoe @ http://www.snowshoehillclimb.com/hotels.html There are many room and condo choices. Most of the NASA guys are staying at the mountain top, but there are some very charming rooms/suites/condos in the Ski Village a short drive down the road. Or, if you want to share in the Chalet, sign up on the CACC thread http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/index.php/topic,4222.new.html#new

Scott, I'd like to try again this year. Do you have any info for accommodations from last year? They don't have that info posted yet.
Did you get a condo last year with a group from CACC?
Let me know, I'd like to go.
Thanks

Jose,
We got a 2 BR condo last year for three of us for around $300 for the weekend. All of the rooms/condos/chalets are located up at the top top of Snowshoe. They have plenty of choices and space, so there is no hurry to reserve now.
So as we get closer, we can see how many want to share a place, and maybe get a house with 4 BRs or more.

Scott, don't forget me when it's time to book. I'll check with my boys in Rehoboth if they are interested.

We'll probably have a thread to tally who is going and who wants to share in the house/condo.

Scott - I was reading the hillclimb stuff earlier this week on the NASA site, and "officially" they require you to hold a NASA Time Trial license....similar to a competition license.  You have to have worked your way up through their HPDE 4 level or demonstrate similar experience level w/ another group.  Do you have a contact that could verify the required pedigree?  I've been to one HPDE (summit point) w/ NASA an open track w/ the FFR group (CMP), and a couple driving schools w/ Audi (VIR).  All were level 1 & 2 stuff.

I'm checking with Jim Pantas from NASA SE, and will advise. I had a similar concern last year, and was told it was much more casual than the site suggested. None of the three of us who went last year had (or have) TT licenses. They really want us to participate.
I think if your competing for NASA TT points, then the requirements may apply.

Here's the response received from NASA. Looks like most should meet the requirements now, or will be able to meet them by July.

Scott,
That sounds awesome! We are also planning a huge car show this year as well.

1) We can classify them separately with the KCC classes -
www.KitCarChallenge.com - if we have enough cars let me know and I'll add
the KCC classes
2) As long as they have at least two (2) verifiable HPDE weekends with any
group or a competition license (Solo I, etc) then they can run - but they
would need more than Auto-X to be considered ok to run.  We have a few
events (http://www.NASA-Southeast.com/schedule.html) between now and then
and so does NASA-MidAtlantic Region -  http://www.NASARacing.net
3) Make sure all of the drivers know that they need:
  a) rollbar/rollover protection
  b) SFI rated driving suit
  c) SA 2000 or newer helmet
  d) SFI rated shoes & gloves
  e) fire extinguisher/fire system mounted in the car.

That's about it!  We are expecting quite a crowd this year

If we use the KCC rules, looks like most Cobras will be in KCC-1 or KCC-2.

Class   Power to Weight Ratio
KCC-1   7.99 and lower
KCC-2   8.00-11.99
KCC-3   12.00-14.99
KCC-4   15.00-17.99
KCC-5   18.00 and higher

I'm interested, but this is way too early for me to decide something like that. Passes don't grow on trees you know.
