Just wanted to let everyone know - I am on a business trip to the Phoenix area. While here, I had a little bit of extra time and remembered reading about Gordon Levy Racing in Tempe. They build FFR Cobras, GT40s, and all type of race cars. I stopped by un-announced and met Gordon Levy, himself. He was fantastic. Gave me a tour of everything, introduced me to all of his guys, and spent a great deal of time with me just talking. For those of you, especially the FFR types, he is an excellent reference if you don't already know of him. He may be at DVSF II.

He clued me in to a new web site and magazine we all should support. It is www.kitcarclub.com. I saw the first issue of their magazine and it looks great. Check it out.

Corey,
The site looks worthwhile. Thank goodness we have another place to feed our obsessive needs for cobra info.

By the way, how is your machine running? Are you satisfied with the Weber set-up yet?

Mine have arrived, and they look fantastic sitting on my living room table. If I had a lick of sense, I would buy a big plexiglass case, put them in it, and leave it at that. Of course, I will instead change cams, take off a smoothly running Holley and install this Weber nightmare-in-the-making.

My closest friends have started a pool to guess when I will rip the whole thing back out and try to recreate the well-sorted machine I have now.

But it really will look cool.

Allen:

I am inches away from being very happy! Last weekend I was able to go back and adjust the valves hot which I hadn't done since the cam change. It should really helpn as a few were pretty far off. I am getting very close to the correct jetting. What is very frustrating is that the jets are what Cal Metal andf Enzo suggested from the beginning. I just kept getting side tracked or swayed. I should have listened to them from the beginning!

I also think that I may have to increase my initial timing a bit. Currently running about 13 deg but I may have to go more. I'll try it and let you know. Still have to put my MSD distributor back in now that I know that the ignition system was not contributing to the problems.

With all of this painful (but fun) experience, I will be very happy to help you with yours any way that I can. (remember, I changed my cam twice in one month)

Hopefully - see you soon.

Corey

Corey,

That's good news. It suggests that it is more than theoretically possible to have a satisfactory Weber set-up. I am encouraged.

I think you are on the right track about the timing. Dan at Inglese stressed that the system needs more timing than most people would think to make it all work.

I look forward to seeing your handiwork soon.
