Fall Rallye official info + headcount
« on: September 26, 2002, 12:32:41 pm »
I'm going to start this now and then update it as we go.  Here's what we have so far:

The Rallye will start at 10:30AM Saturday Oct, 19th.  Rain date is the 26th.
The starting point will be at the Mason Dixon Dragway near Rt. 70 and 66.  They have agreed to let us use their parking area as long as we don't spin wheels on the grass.  I didn't think that would be a problem.
Cost is $30.
The run will take about 2 hours.
There will be gas and bathrooms at a couple of checkpoints.
There will be food and drink as well as awards at the end of the Rallye.

Any money left over after expenses will be donated to Team Jenny and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  If you don't know what Team Jenny is check out www.factoryfive.com.

The end location will be in our neighborhood.   It may not be exactly at our house. :D

If you aren't interested in running the Rallye but want to participate in the festivities afterwards, I'm going to ask that you pay $10 per person.

You can find directions and Rallye rules here: Adobe PDF Document or here: MS Word Document

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Scott - is that first car off at 9am, or show up at 9am, and first car off at 9:30-10:00?

Don't forget, most of us are an hour (or more) away from Harper's Ferry.  I'm an early riser, so I don't care either way.  However, we have some late sleepers in the club, and those of us who need babysitters are going to have a hard time finding a teenager to show up that early.  Any way to slide it back a bit?

Ok, after looking at Gary's stuff I realized that he started at 10:30.  For some reason I thought it was earlier.  So 10:30 it is!  We've also moved the starting point from Harper's Ferry to the Mason Dixon Dragway.  This shortens the course by about 30 minutes.  I'll be posting an informational package soon which will have directions and phone numbers.

Anybody going to caravan up to Mason Dixon?  If we eat quickly, and Ripper doesn't have any of his usual "issues", we could theoretically have breakfast at VI first, then roll on up from there.

Magellan - what did you have in mind for getting together?

All:

Sorry to possibly pull out at the last minute, but I'm not sure that I will still make it. Maggie's dad died Monday morning a bit unexpectedly.  Because he's career Navy (30 years and three wars!!), he will be receiving a full honors Navy funeral at Arlington. Due to their schedule, the first available date was Nov 21st. Depending on things later this week, I may participate with my son navigating, but probably not.

See you all soon:

Corey, sorry to hear that.  Stay home and take care of what's important.  We'll see you at another event.

Kirby, no Cobra required you know!  You can still run it in a regular car, and enjoy the festivities just as well.

Corey and Maggie,  Judy and I are sad to hear of Maggie's dad's passing.  If there is anything that we can do, please do not hesitate to call.  Been a pretty challenging few months, hasn't it, my friend.

Thanks, everyone for the sympathies. Things are doing okay. As it turns out, Maggie is feeling like she would like to have us join the festivities. It would be a nice diversion. We'll see how the weather is and all, so you might see us after all.

See you all soon:

Zimmy,

Jo and I pass our sympathies to you and Maggie also, but glad you two are holding onto good spirits and will try to make it this weekend.  Any CACC outing will be a diversion.... for sure 8O  8O  8O

Scott,

Jo and I will attempt to forget how cold it will be Saturday morning and will try to forge ahead and make the 100 plus mile trek to the meeting place       She's a real fair weather sailor you know    and would probably enjoy sleeping in under warn covers :!:

Made updates to the list of participants.  I really need to know the status of the following people:

Diane
Bob Lennon
Jack Mogus

I need to know if you are coming for sure so I can have navigators for you.  Jack, I get the impression that you are coming for sure.  I know Jeremy is in for navigator so I'll pair you two up unless I hear from you otherwise.

Still touch and go on the weather.  It's looking like it won't roll in until noon.  Right when everyone's on the back 9.

Corey and Maggie,
Please let me add my condolences on your loss.  Hope you will make it to the Saturday activities.

Scott,
I've have been wangling all week trying to get all of the boat show follow up done in order to get a pass for the Rallye.  It is a no go for the whole day off.  We had a good show and need to make sure none of the deals go south for lack of attention.

I am hoping to get out of here in time to make it the party later.  Hope that is OK.

The raindate for next weekend is a definite no for me.  Doing a post-show Open House for the work.

Chanting, I love my job, I love my job.
