The Cannonball One Lap of America School & Dinner at BeaveRun - April 5th & 6th!

The weekend is open to all performance driving enthusiasts and racers as well as the One Lap competitors. Come out and dust off the cobwebs after the long winter and rub shoulders with those who have raced at the highest levels of motorsports competition over the last thirty years. Key events of the weekend are:

    * One Lap of America Driving School  - April 5th at 8:00 BeaveRun will assemble a remarkable group of professional racers who will be instructing at this school once again. Previous instructors have included the very accomplished Le Mans and Grand Am racer Chris Gleason, Grand Am Cup racer Dennis Baglier, the ever-colorful Le Mans and Aston Martin factory racer Jack Miller and professional race coach John Walko, of 2006 Star Mazda Team Champions John Walko Racing,  who has managed racers such as Graham Rahal, Guy Cosmo and brothers Robbie & Adam Pecorari. Those who complete this school will have earned the right to compete in the annual Cannonball One Lap of America event.

    *  One Lap of America Driving School Dinner - April 5th at 6:00 PM  The Saturday evening dinner and Cocktail Hour tradition continues in 2008 at the BeaveRun Event Center.  Cocktail Hour, complete with appetizers, kicks off at 6:00 followed by a catered dinner and an entertaining cadre of speakers. This is the perfect opportunity to meet One Lap participants and share stories about some of the greatest legends in racing.   Like fishing stories,  the truth may get stretched a bit... but this only adds to the enjoyment of the evening. Dinner, by the way, is open to all motorsports enthusiasts, spouses and guests who wish to purchase a separate dinner ticket, but Saturday's school participants receive a dinner ticket with their registration.

    *      One Lap of America Driving School - Day Two - April 6th at 9:00      A day of driving and classroom sessions begins at 9:00 AM on Sunday.  Like the school on Saturday, this day is open to One Lap drivers as well as the aspiring performance driver.  The day will be run along the same format as BeaveRun's Flat Out Days but with additional classroom sessions for drivers who desire it.

Pricing:

    *      Two days - $365 includes Dinner
    *      Sat $205 - w/out dinner
    *      Sat $230 - includes dinner
    *      Sun $180 - w/out dinner
    *      Sun $205 - w/dinner

Would love to make it, but I dont' think I can get this heap back togather in time!   ???  This started out as a plan to swap the engine, sortof got out of control....

What I started with....

Now after complete disassembly...  (still have to remove the windshield before repaint)

Repainted the engine bay, some seam welding while there, new steering rack, will replace front suspension w/ Bilstein race coilovers from MM and put in a MM strut tower brace I picked up cheap...

Adding ATL fuel cell I had from another project, adding some more bars and gussets to the cage....  MM panhard, rear Koni DA coilovers and tri-link going in, as well as the rear LCA's I took off the FFR with rod ends on the axle end....

Installing the Kirkeys I took out of the FFR, gutted the dash, will fabricate a gauge panel, etc..

The engine on the left came out of the car (coolant in oil, etc...  >:() the engine on the right is the one going in...  :smitten:  It's a 306 w/ forged pistons/rods, AFR 185 heads, mighty demon 650 on top, full length headers, and a custom solid roller camshaft from jay allen @ camshaftinnovations.com ....

My goal is to get it finished in time for Olthoffs event in May....  O0

It'll be white, the body's not in good enough shape to do anything darker, and besides, I've got 5 quarts of marine bright white poly paint!  Inside and out will be white, but I think I'll put two blue stripes down the body, sortof a reverse image of the cobra, GT350 style.   I've got one quart of blue, one of red, so the stripes may end up red....  awhile before I get to that point anyway...
Does anyone know if the bedliner stuff will burn?  I know its' flammable when going on,  but what about when dry?  I was planning to roll a coat on the floor of the car but don't want to add anything that'll burn (not that I plan to put a match to it mind you! ;))
Ya'll have fun next weekend.....  take plenty of pics!

I am packing Thursday - If I can get my Ariel sorted at FAAT, I will drive strait to the Beaver from Summit this Friday. Rain will also be a factor as I don't have an enclosed trailer yet.
