CACC EVENT AT SUMMIT POINT
« on: March 24, 2008, 11:55:43 am »
Event information is as follows...

We have locked in the September 27th date with Summit Point. Registration is still open, and I'll update the list periodically. I am now collecting deposits.

Here are the details:

The track map for the Shenandoah circuit...
http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh71/Cobra-75/Misc%20Stuff/?action=view&current=TrackMap.jpg

The cost is $200 per car. And will include an instructor, if needed.  (I think the cost is reasonable since this event is on a weekend and is still less than the $250 charged for Friday at the Track/FATT.)

There will be five 20 minute sessions, ~ 9:00, 10:20, 1:25, 2:25, 3:20

We would be in our own run group. (The other cars on the track-in different run groups-that day are Drifting group, Bill Scott Formula cars and a Kart group.)

Cars would need to meet the normal tech requirements for FATT. This includes seat belts, helmets (SNELL 2000), roll bars for convertibles, etc. You should review the attached Tech sheet prior to the event.
http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh71/Cobra-75/Misc%20Stuff/?action=view&current=FATTTechInspection.jpg

Those requiring an instructor would have to have identical safety equipment for the instructor as the driver. I.e dual/double roll bars

For those unfamiliar with the basic rules for a track event, please review the attached. Note: some of these rules refer to the Main track....
http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh71/Cobra-75/Misc%20Stuff/?action=view&current=Safetyp1again.jpg
http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh71/Cobra-75/Misc%20Stuff/?action=view&current=Safetyp2.jpg

He had no strict guidelines for whether an instructor would be required or not, but suggested if one had reasonable track experience but lacked time on Shenandoah, he/she could pair off with someone who has for a lead-follow session. He seemed reasonable with respect to getting us on the track while still conducting a safe event.

I also suggest, if you want to participate but haven't yet driven at a high speed event, that you enroll in FATT or one of the many driving schools available and get familiar with the experience.

Participant List as of 8/28/08

Just wanted to check to see when the deposit will be collected for this event?  I'm working through my "motosports" schedule and want to make sure that this is track event is still on.    O0

The CACC event at Summit Point is getting closer. I need to start collecting money and see who will actually be attending.
I'd like to do this by the end of August. The cost will be $200 a car, and will include an instructor if needed.
You can mail a check to me payable to B.S.R. (Please do not make them payable to me or Cobra Inc.)

Send to:

Cobra Inc.
415A Walker Road
Great Falls, VA 22066

or see me at the VI ( however, I won't be there this weekend,8-16).

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to back out on this one.   September is filling up fast with work related stuff including weekends.

Scott,

Sorry, but I'm not going to make it. I sent you a PM or email a few months ago. I no longer have a Cobra and I lost my job to boot.  :?

Three reasons,

One: My cobra doesn't have a roll bar so they won't let me on the track.

Two: My "track car" needs an engine swap and I don't have the time.

Three:  Rex will need someone with a trailer to come pick up up when he blows up the Mach 1 (again).

I wish I had the time really...
