OK...here's the particulars on the....

                          CACC 2008-Middleburg Cobra Thunder-Wine cruise:

Thanks to the efforts of CACC's Jack Goehring (Jack the Ripper) http://www.jacktheripperinc.com/about.htm, the town of Middleburg will close off S. Madison St. for CACC Cobra parking at around 11:30 am.

The Red Horse Tavern -Middleburg's Biker Bar (and NOT to be confused with the Red Fox Inn) will be reserving tables for us on their front deck for lunch and adult beverages.

Following lunch and/or shopping in Middleburg, we will cruise south west through some of Loudon & Fauquier counties more scenic roads

And we will arrive at Barrel Oak Winery in Delaplane http://www.barreloak.com/index.htm

We visited there this past Saturday, and the owner Brian Roeder, is a big Cobra fan and will be setting aside some designated parking for us next to the winery. Although this is a relatively new winery, the facility is beautiful and has a fantastic view of the Blue Ridge mountains. And, Oh yes, the wine I had was good too.

There are several other wineries in the area, which are worth visiting. However, none could accommodate a very large group. For those who wish to explore on their own, I recommend also visiting Vintage Ridge Vineyard (awesome Pinot Gris!), Three Fox Vineyard, Naked Mountain Vineyard, & Fox Meadow Vineyard. For a more complete list of the those in the area go to... http://www.virginiawine.org/wineries/browse/

Schedule...Saturday October 11, 2008

    * 11:30: Arrive and park on South Madison Street-it will be blocked off for us.
    * 11:30-12:30: Beverages and Lunch. Tables reserved for us at the Red Horse Tavern
    * 12:30-1:30: Shopping etc in Middleburg
    * 1:30-2:00: Cruise to Barrel Oak Winery in Delaplane

I would like those who are interested in going to post on this thread. I need to get a head count for both the Red Horse Tavern and the Winery.

More Photos and printable route maps are available here..... http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/v/album146/Middleburg+car+show+2008/

Scott, if you want a raggedty looking Cobra at the show, I'm your guy!  But if you don't, I won't be disappointed, it's already a good day for me! I can be persuaded for the winery too!

Scott,
Depending on how Mary, my wife, is doing on Saturday (she had a "mild stroke" last Saturday and possibly will be discharge out of the Hospital tomorrow), I like you to count me in. I will let you know for certain by late Wednesday. If this uncertainty presents any difficulty I will drop out.
Thanks,
Hector
P.S. Would there be a "Grease up" at the V.I. that Saturday?

Hector...I'm sorry to hear about your wife. Was this the sme day as your Grand son's problem?

You can let me know anytime, I just need an approximate head count. And Yes, there will also be people at the VI, some will leave from there.

Hi Scott,

Would there be a couple of seats at lunch for my wife and I? I will be looking to purchase a finished or partially finished FFR Cobra sometime this summer and this would be a nice chance for us to meet some of the group. I'm a member (http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/index.php?topic=5416.0) that's been kind of lurking because I've not had much to contribute yet (and because I bought a sweet 1983 Mustang convertible to tide me over shortly after I became a member).

Thanks!

Scott/Dan,
Thanks for you kind thoughts and well wishes. Scott, yes, my grandson went into the hospital with spinal meningitis on Friday and my wife had the stroke on Friday as well, however, the symptoms were so vague that she told me about it on Saturday when we went to the Hospital immidately, and sure enough, a CT scan showed that she had a "very" small stroke on her right frontal lobe. The stroke has left a very minimal side effect, never the less, being a stroke, all kinds of tests and procedures are being performed on her according the the medical protocol for an incident as such.
She is doing extremely well and I expect for her to be discharged tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest.
My grandson, Ruben, was discharged yesterday and thank God he is doing very, very well, totally back to normal.
It has been "The week end from hell" at the Rodriguezs.
Thank you again for your kind thoughts.
Will try to see you all Saturday, God willing.
Hector

I guess I should post that I'll be there instead of just showing up. Probably bring my daughter with me. Looking forward to seeing the group.
