Parking behind the Vienna Inn
« on: May 11, 2009, 12:02:10 pm »
After a pleasant conversation with Ms.Winchell, the property manager of the Carper Building, which parking lot we park our Cobras on, she advised me that she does not have any problem with us parking there, however, the new building owner has taken his lawyer's recommendation of not allowing us to park due to the liability we represent, such as someone getting hurt and thus he, the bldg. owner, consequently being sued for damages. I challenged the term of "someone being hurt" and the sample she gave me was "a curious child, or adult for that matter, would get too close to the cars and get burned by the car's hot exhaust pipes. Apparently, she or the new bldg. owner have done their homework. She came up with the idea of us (CACC) sending the owner of the Bldg., a letter stating that we have purchased an insurance specifically covering this parking/building situation, in other words, a "no harm letter". In my eyes and mind, this new Bldg. owner, is already in the "legally aggressive state of mind and may come after us (CACC) if any shit happens to his already derelict Bldg. such as columns being more banged up than what they are now, etc. I would suggest to park on the Library parking lot across the street from the Vienna Inn, however, some research should be done to see if the "chief Librarian" would allow us to do so. I may stop by and ask. This idea may have some lethal and fatal results as one of us is crossing the very busy Rt. 123 to get to and from our destinations. I say, it is time to move on, find new horizons and give The Old Brough a chance at breakfast. Elder has a good relation with the owner, Mike, he can ask him if he could make some sort of "parking arrangement" for all of us if we  so decide to establish a new tradition for our NOBLE CLUB
So, file in with your opinions, specially those illustrious attorneys we have in our NOBLE CLUB.

we've done a pretty good job of running off all the other saturday morning customers...why not just park at the back of the VI lot?

There's this guy in Brooklyn (N.Y.) that can fix this problem.  His name is Benny "Two Toes".  No, he doesn't have two toes on one of his feet.  He has two of someone elses toes on his key chain.  He's not cheap but he guarantees his work.

Think FFX auto parts would want to be associated with the likes of us?
They don't open till what - 10ish?

Tim,
That sounds like a good option, however, we can try first what Wade suggested.

Trying this would be my first choice.

Maybe instead of Hector, one of the club's officers could try to reason with these people.  I dunno, maybe the treasurer ?

I like the idea of some segregated COBRA parking. Too much chance of a parking lot mishap at VI. It would probably run-off or at least $iss-off some of the VI regulars if we took over the VI lot and it would certainly put the kibosh on any post breakfast lingering.

CACC....It's about the people...not about the cars.

INVITE THE BUILDING OWNER OUT TO VISIT SOME SATURDAY MORNING.  MAKE HIM AN HONORARY CLUB MEMBER.  TAKE HIM FOR A RIDE IN A COBRA.

IF THAT DOESN'T WORK - - BREAK BOTH OF HIS LEGS.

OTHER THAN THAT - - - I SUGGEST WE USE THE LIBRARY PARKING LOT.  IT HAS PLENTY OF SPACES AND I CHECKED IT OUT THIS PAST SATURDAY - - THERE WERE ONLY TWO CARS PARKED IN THE WHOLE LOT.

WHO KNOWS   ---  SOME OF THE CULTURE MAY RUB OFF ONTO A FEW OF OUR MEMBERS.

We can pitch in and buy the building? We can split the building 200 ways right? Put me down for 1/200 of what? 750,000. Who's in?   ;)  I think I already have one of those Cobra Parking Only signs lying around  :)

This comes up every couple of years. Why not just keep parking there. We are citizens, we have rights. How can they post it for "no cobras." If they do, we can claim discrimination. Hell we have enough lawyers in the club to keep them tied up in court until the cows come home.

It's a private lot. We have no rights. Perhaps the VI will give us the back of the parking lot where the private lot and their lot adjoin. They could put out some cones or post a sign reserving the space from 7:30 until 10:00 every Saturday rain or shine. I am certain they don't want to lose our business.
