Walter Reed Car Show for our Wounded Warriors

Hello All, well the show is going to take place October 10, 2009  10am - 2 pm. If you can go please sign up here and call Janet McFarland also..  here is the info I got.

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great summer. I have been able to
reschedule:

*Walter Reed Car Show for our Wounded Warrior * Saturday October 10,
2009 10 am - 2 pm (cars need to arrive between 9 am - 9:30 am)

I am sorry our spring date did not work out but I have been assured that
our event is written in ink. As stated in the subject line, *Volunteers
needed!

*If you are interested in spending a rewarding day giving back to the
men and women that have sacrificed so much to preserve our freedoms,
then this is a must event!

There are several ways you can participate.

** Bring a Car for the Show. *
The show will be an eclectic mix of cars including antique, muscle,
sports, and race cars . . . basically anything 20 something guys and
gals would be interested in. OG Racing has offered their support in
rounding up a couple track/race cars for the event. Space is limited. We
will be looking for 40 - 60 cars. If you are interested please e-mail me
with your name, address, phone number and car make, model and year. This
is not a concours event, although, we will have a couple special awards
like Wounded Warriors' Choice. Please note attendees will most likely
touch your car.

** Volunteer to help out. *
This will be a major effort and we will need people to assist before and
during the event with refreshments, car placement, greeting our wounded
warriors, and so on. If you would like to be part of the event we could
use your help. I could especially use a few experience car show stewards
and a brigade or two of volunteers willing to assist with refreshments,
set-up, and clean-up. Volunteers are asked to volunteer for 2-3 hours.
Please specify morning, midday or afternoon.

** Donate.*
This event is being sponsored by the District of Columbia Daughters of
the American Revolution (DCDAR) and the Greater Washington Section of
the Mercedes Benz Club of America (GWS MBCA). We would like to provide
water and trick-or-treat bags with candy for our Wounded Warriors. Costs
will be minimal but we would greatly appreciate donations. If you have
any contacts that might be willing to donate refreshments, door prizes
and/or items for the goody bags please contact Janet McFarland. All
donations will be tax deductible. Also if you have old car magazines
that you do not save, we will be collecting them to be distributed at
the Mologne House and the hospital. The guys get tired of Home and
Garden.

I look forward to working with every one over the next several weeks.

UPDATE 9/1/09

Don,

Great! I have heard from many of the Cobra guys.  It is important that
they drop me an e-mail which I think most of them have.  Mid-September I
will send out a message and then just before the event another logistic
message.

I am certain that we will have a nice collection of cars with the
response that I have had so far.

Janet

Update   9/21/09

Hi Don,

Well, I am starting to put together the list of participants. It looks
like we have a good crew from the Cobra club. It should be a great
event. If you have a list of Cobra members that has expressed interest
to you, feel free to send that list so I can cross check my list.

At this point, I think it is best to remove the announcement from the
website. We are about full and there is no need to advertise the event
any more. (I am still accepting cars.)

As the event gets closer, we can talk on the phone about logistics. We
are going to have a very long parking lot. Most likely I will assign a
place for the Cobra's to set-up and will rely on you to get everyone
placed. Last time the Cobra guys were great doing this.

Janet

Please add me to the list for the show, I had gone to a similar show in/ around 1970 that was put on by the SCCA DC Region. Never forgot it.
Thanks,
