Seats ?
« on: March 08, 2010, 03:44:36 pm »
My wife (Physical Therapist) doesn't approve of the lowback seats that came with my FFR. She insists that it have highbacks of some sort for whiplash protection and to brace her neck when I accelerate.

So what's the common wisdom here? What's a comfortable seat that will fit in a Cobra replica. This car is being built as a driver, not a show car, so seat comfort is important.

How are the FFR Street Performers/Cobra Clubmans? Any other suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks!
Cory

If you like the originality of the Cobra seats, get your wife a helmet and a Hans device. ;)

There is a seat similar to the old style seat but with a head rest $$. There is also a head rest pad for the roll bars for factory five cars. Do you have two roll bars? The there are lots or racing seats but be careful many are not very comfortable for everyday driving.

Yes, I have two roll bars but I'm mounting the shoulder belts to a crossbar in them so I can't put a headrest on there.

Plus, as she pointed out the other day, when she drives it she'll have to move the seat forward and the bar-mounted headrest won't do her any good.

I'll take a look at the Sube Monacos.

Cory, the solution to your seat problem and at the same time keeping the originality of the vehicle would be to just drive slower.
No quick acceleration and that would mean, you would not be able to participate in the Rehoboth Beach showdown in October...
Good luck...

I bought one of the last FFR Cobra seats and they're great and doesn't take too much away from the looks of the car. Finding the right seat is hard thing to do, while trying to stay original is difficult. Good luck.

Hmmm.... doesn't a HANS device keep you head from moving forward...  If her head moves forward while accelerating, you're doing it wrong, or drive a CRX.

Cory,
I had one of those cross bars too, but I replaced it with a padded bar because I was more afraid of some texting teenager rear-ending me, sending my head into that bolt in the cross bar. I was hit by a lady on her cell phone last year while sitting in my Tacoma and it hurt my neck a lot less than banging my head on my work bench after picking something off the floor.
