BMW Club Autocross - March 20
« on: March 08, 2010, 05:58:33 pm »
The National Capital Chapter of the BMW Club is inviting CACC members to its March 20 event at the Bowie PG County baseball stadium.  New for 2010 are four classes for non-BMWs based on displacement, with bumps for R-tires and forced induction.  Any V8 would be in the X1 class.  Details are here:  http://www.nccbmwcca.org/content.php?138-Classes

Registration is via the dlbracing.com website - same as used by SCCA.  In the option for clubs go to National Capital Chapter BMW.

The same information will apply to our April 17 event at the Waldorf, MD baseball stadium.

What happened guys?  I don't see any of you registered yet.  I understand the morning session is full, but that should allow you to get a couple of chili dogs at the Vienna Inn before coming out.

I was waiting to see what the weather was doing, but I guess I better get my a$$ in gear before the afternoon fills up too.

What's up with that! We're used to showing up, the BMW crowd quiets, then parts as we stroll up to registration. I don't even pay.

Our new rules say even gods have to jump through the registration hoops.  Fred, I'm sorry I'll miss seeing you and Wade run.  I'm bugging out early to get to a wedding in Gaithersburg.  I'm not sure why I didn't see your names on the entry list last night.  They are certainly there now.

Woody, probably either I'm sure it's not age related..  Don't worry you'll be sick of me by September.

Ben don't worry, I told Woody about all the work on your car, he figured it would be so fast he wouldn't be able to see it.

Results are posted.   Awesome times Wade and Fred on a course with such tight sections.  Ben was happy to have power steering.

Hmmm.  That's weird.  That plus 1 wasn't on the scoring sheet at timing when I confirmed my notes.

That course was a combination of nice fast turns punctuated by impossibly tight boxes.  It was hard to avoid booting cones or to carry speed through those sections, power steering or no.

The weather was fantastic, and it was good to be out there.  I ran in the first am session, and it was still warming up.  In the pm session, like the daffodils blooming, the Canada geese returning, and other sure signs of Spring, Wade, Fred and Larry administered their annual spanking to the Bavarian horde.  Another highlight was the debut of Stu Fain's sleek new GT3.

it was nearly impossible to get through that course without coning.  I think only 4 people out of 100+ were able to get all four clean runs.  I've never seen so many cone calls in a single day.
