Door Alignment
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:33:46 am »
Just started to hang my FFR doors. They don't fit well. Any recommendations on how to get the best aligment before I start sanding?  Thanks.

make sure the center mirror is mounted (it pulls the body down at the cowl) and also that the windshield is mounted and there is no interference at the side-posts.  These both affect the curve of the body where the cowl transitions down over to the sides.  You can also add/remove washers at the side body mounts to move the bottom in/out.  It's an iterative, frustrating process.

:buck2: What Wade said.  Dale, you can't spend too much time on this step .  Remember, when you make an adjustment, you're likely to nudge something else out, so expect multiple iterations.  (You do have all the rubber seals installed around the body...yes?) Those will make a big difference in the alignment tolerances. :P

I have no idea... I wore a blind!

Actually I only did one and just about screwed that up and still have the passenger side to go...I'll hit it this summer. Good luck! And I agree with what Wade said and I have a check to prove it!  :crazy2:

OK, I've given up on the doors for now, man is that a painful process... I'm working on the nose aluminum and seat installation this weekend.  Surely there is a better way to get all that crap aligned besides paying an expert body-painter :crazy2:
