Steve Strasburg

I went to the game last night and it was electric. This kid is the real deal. If you have a chance to see him do so. 14 K , no walks. 4 hits. The Post has half the sports section dedicated to his game. It was like a SuperBowl. I have never seen fans react that way as they stood and started clapping after every second strike on a batter.

Lost in the hype and excitement of the game was the fact that Zimmerman, Dunn and Willingham all homered. It has not been done by that trio since they started playing for the Nats.

I wish I was there.

I love that he struck out the last 7 batters (after he "settled down") and set the team franchise record for strike outs in his first every major league game. Although time will tell if he is one of the great pitchers of all time, that might be the best first game ever pitched in the major leagues (I'm sure some statistician will prove me wrong).

Anyone want to wager that he throws a perfect game in his rookie year?

EDIT: Question - How many pitchers in the history of baseball have ever gotten 14K's on less than 96 pitches?
