I'm thinking about picking up one of these at Fort Meade auction. Says $150.00.

Kim will have a fit when I park it in the backyard..........but still, $150.00.

Must be more to it than I realize.

Thanks for the offer of the generator. We are all good now.

And yes, I should have thought of the improvised solution earlier. Sort of a Homer Simpson moment later when it occured to me (doph!). Sleep deprivation is rough and trees falling down around my house creates lots of work....

We haven't had a power outage since several of my neighbors put in giant generators and 500 Gallon propane tanks a couple of years ago.  I thank them after every big storm.  Also, a big thanks to SMECO for storm proofing our power grid here in SoMD.

BTW, Jim Harding is part of the SMECO team

Thanks for the kudos Val, but after SMECO shells out the big bucks for the new and improved automated meter infrastructure (AMI) and the costs passed onto our customer members, you might be singing a different song.  :tickedoff:

Well since moving into our new house full-time in the Haymarket/ Bull Run Mountain area (still have the apartment in Ashburn too) we were welcomed by our neighbors with a 40lb bag of salt and offers for the husband to use his Kubota for our driveway!  Little did we know we would be using it only a week later.  Both of our commutes home were fine but the power was out before we got home and stayed out until 5pm the next day.  We considered it a camping adventure, but putting a genny in the budget real soon!
