I'm interested.

I might do a piece of it and peel off to visit my brother in Louisville.

What would you drive? Fairmont-Zephyr-Cobra-Mutang-Saleen...choices choices..

I think Katherine Lindsey has been on one or more of them with her Chevy Hotrod Pickup.

My son Austin will probably come along too so we might take two cars since we have so many of them. In order to do a proper tribute for Dad I think the Zephyr is going to have to go on the trip. Austin would probably drive that. I would then probably take either the Fairmont or the Ranch Wagon (if you're coming along we're going to need something with some space in it to carry enough beer and wine for the both of us).

What will you drive on it? Trak Car?

We should probably start making hotel reservations as early as we can.

Probably the 2015 Mustang...the TracKar has no A/C or heat. I'm getting too old for another OneLap type trip.

I could be interested in part of it! Never done it. Tempting when it is this close.

All the rooms on this site show sold out for the entire tour.

Must be all the regulars know to book early. There are other hotels, but any car show will likely be at the "host hotel".

Elder - I just looked and the only days that are sold out are the second day. I called the travel agent and she said they might be able to get additional rooms added to the block for us. All of the other days have available hotels and there are more than one hotel listed for all of them. So it doesn't look like there will be one place that is the focal point. I'll give you a call later and we can talk about how to reserve some rooms for all of us going together.

My son and I did the Long Haul last year (2018). It was a great trip with thousands of like minded car enthusiasts. The routes chosen by the Power Tour were very scenic and enjoyable drives. At any one venue there were between 4,000 and 6,000 cars. The hotels through Anthony Travel were a great deal though many of the other local hotels were filled with attendees. All of the hotels with attendees had impromptu car shows at night with people setting up chairs (and drinking) in the parking lots. Walking and talking to different people in the parking lots was really memorable and an education on different cars and builds. As far as logistics, we stayed in the city of that days venue, then we would wake up in the morning and drive to the next venue for that day's events. We found getting out early, ahead of the masses saved us from lining up behind hundreds of cars at a left turn stop in some of the small towns you go through. We enjoyed the vendors for the 1st 2 days but it was redundant after that. We looked up local attractions (Corvette Museum, Barber Museum, Look Out Mountain) and went to those for added distractions. Drag racing and autox at several venues were fun. We did the Gold Package but found it beneficial at only 2 or 3 of the venues. You will meet great people with all kinds of cars/trucks/contraptions on the Power Tour. It was definitely a fun experience; I am also thinking of going to some of the venues this year (zMax, Martinsville, Bristol). Note: we did it topless and had only 20 minutes of rain during the days drives/events.

TTT....Doug, Did you confirm when and where to stay for the first few days of the tour?

I'm interested in doing these days. So, I guess I'd need a room the night before these events....
  • Day 2 – Martinsville Speedway – 340 Speedway Rd, Ridgeway, VA 24148 – June 9, 2019

  • Day 3 – Bristol Motor Speedway – 151 Speedway Blvd, Bristol, TN 37620 – June 10, 2019

  • Day 4 – Kentucky Speedway – 1 Speedway Drive, Sparta, KY 41086 – June 11, 2019

Most interesting they didn't seem to have any Zephyrs or Fairmonts...

But they had several Falcon wagon/sedan delivery vehicles...::)

I did figure it out a while back. Need to go look it all up again. Talking to my son tonight to see if he's going along too. I'll try to come back with the 411 in a couple of days.
