6 cars went out and 3 returned. The two Harrison's had their Mustangs were two of the three that returned. Daniel Farhood in his 1992 BMW 325 did a fantastic job, and was the third.
Now for the other three. My son Sam just purchased Bill Magruder's black Mustang No. 88, and was in is second heat when he had complete brake failure going into Turn 1 at over a hundred miles per hour. The gravel trap didn't slow him down and he hit the tire wall head on sufficiently to break the concrete barrier behind the tires The car is toast, and hopefully Bowie can do his magic.
I just got the new engine back in the Daytona Coupe and was having a good run when I lost either a differential or something in the rear end just before the carousel. Had to tow the car backwards to the pits with a noticeable clunk in the rear end.
Bruce had his new Corvette and had two issues. He lost an idler pulley during the first heat but had sufficient time to do a roundtrip to Sterling to fetch the replacement part. During the last heat, something caused his Corvette to cease up and go into limp mode.
Therefore for the trip home we had two dead cars on the double trailer - the Daytona Coupe and Bruce's Corvette. I had to take my rollback the next day to fetch the Mustang. Very expensive day.
Oh, by the way, Sam got the trophy for "Most Eventful Driver" This is the same trophy I got six years ago. First time a father/son achieved this honor.
