This set of instructions is outdated and I haven't gotten around to fixing it. Sorry.
To post to the Image Gallery, you first need to join the right "Usergroup". Select "Usergroups" at the top right area of this screen. Select "Gallery_Users" from the drop down list and then "lookup". Join the group. All new member requests have to be approved so you will have to wait until I can clear it. Once you are activited, click on "Image Gallery" underneath the logo in the upper left of the screen.
As long as you are logged into the forum you will also be logged into the Gallery. Guests have viewing rights to all albums by default. I'll get to that in a moment.
Any logged in user can create a new "album". To do so select "New Album" on the right side of the screen. This will create a new album and move you into that album. First thing you should do is select "properties" on the right. This will bring up a seperate window. Change the "Album Title" and then hit "apply" at the bottom. The window may or may not go away...if it doesn't you can close it at this point. You can adjust permissions by selecting "Permissions" on the right. Unless you want others to be able to post a picture to your album this should be unnecessary.
You can now add photos by selecting "Add Photos" on the right. This brings up a new window which allows you to select pictures off of your hard drive. You can also specify a website to pull pictures from. Four important caveats:
1.)You have the option of choosing how many files to upload. Change this before selecting pictures! If you list 5 pics on there and decide you need to add a 6th, changing the drop down box will effectively reset the form and wipe out your selections. You can reselect everything at that point but it's obviously a pain in the a**.
2.)Don't try to grab stuff off of the Yahoo site. You might be able to log into Yahoo but the server can't! It will fail on the attempt.
3.)Read the instructions in the windows! Closing windows before the actions are complete will cause the task to fail!
4.)Supported file types include: JPG, PNG and GIF. BMP is not supported. Others may be supported but those are the common ones.
Once your pictures are done uploading you can perform actions on the individual pics. There is a drop down box where you can "edit caption". This is for you to make comments that will show up under that pic. You can select "Highlight this photo". Highlighting a photo makes it the featured pic for your album in the albums list. Obviously, you can have only one highlighted photo. You can delete a photo or move it to another album. Lastly, hiding a photo hides it from everyone except the owner of that album. Not just from guests.
Lastly, please don't "rebuild thumbs". If it becomes necessary to do so, I'll take care of it. Thanks!
I think this is good enough to get everyone started. Please post usage questions in this thread and I'll address them here. Enjoy!
