OK guys, it is that time again, to start planning for our New Year's cruise. I have already written the directions for our path, which will be, I hope, slightly different than last year's. I will be posting the directions for our new path, with maps highlighting the routs we are taking, which Steve Baker will prepare and put them on the CACC web site, once I give him the go ahead. Please, respond to this thread stating if you will be going on this cruise, this is very important in order to advise the restaurant how many of us will be having lunch.As far as restaurant, we will again be ending up at Kylroy's as we did last year. Chipper did check the restaurants close to the Capitol's parking lot, and one of them will not be open on New Years day, and the other requires a guarantee expenditure of $1,500, so, I DON'T THINK SO, therefore, we'll end up at Kylrois. Stay tuned, I we will post the maps and directions of our rout.

I very much regret, I will not be able to join you in this great day. In NJ still, I have been diagnosed with “light case of pneumonia “, which started with a bad cold, courtesy of my grand kids. I will continue to fallow this, and help in any way possible. Please, would some good soul print the description of the path, and maps for Jack Goering, and give it to him at Cooper School. Route for 2018 New Year's Day Cruise:
FROM COOPER SCHOOL TO CAPITOL PARKING LOT - WE WILL BE DEPARTING AT 10:00AM
- Take Rt 495 north to G.W. Pkwy east toward Washington 0.8 miles
- G.W. Pkwy East to Rt. 50 West 9.0 miles
- Rt. 50 to first exit on your right (sign calls for Key Bridge exit) 0.4 miles Once you exit, stay on your right to make a left turn at traffic light into N. Meade St.
- Continue on N. Meade St. to Marshall Dr. 0.12 miles
- Make left into Marshall Dr., and proceed to make a left towards Iwojima Memorial parking lot. We could all park and take some pictures.
FROM IWOJIMA MEMORIAL TO CAPITOL'S PARKING LOT
- Backtrack on Marshall Dr. to N. Meade St. 0.12 miles where we make a right turn
- N. Meade St. to Rt. 50 East 0.1 miles.
- Take Rt. 50 East exit toward Washington, to cross the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial bridge.
- While crossing the bridge, stay in the center lane which will put you on Constitution Ave. in Washington. Distance between Rt.50 exit in Virginia and Constitution Ave. is 1.2 miles.
- Follow Constitution Ave. all the way to the Capitol's parking lot 1.7 miles, where we will meet the guys from MD.
TO HAINS POINT (East Potomac Golf Course):
- From the Capitol's parking lot, make a left into 2nd St. NW toward Independence Ave. 0.2 miles
- Make right into Independence Ave.
- Proceed on Independence Ave. to Raoul Wallenberg Pl. 1.0 mile
- Make left on Raoul Wallenberg Pl. and proceed to make left on Main Ave.0.9 miles
- Stay on right lane on Main St. and bear to the right for 0.1 mile
- Make left into Ohio Dr.
-Continue on on Ohio Dr. to the Golf course Club House, we'll stop there for 15 min., for bathroom use
FROM OHIO DRIVE TO BEACH DR..
-Drive all around Ohio Dr. to Rock Creek Pkwy. 4.3 miles, Make a left turn into Rock Creek Pkwy going west, towards Beach Dr.
-Stay on Rock Creek Pkwy. for 3.1 miles, until you get to Beach Dr., bear to the right to enter into Beach Dr-On Beach Dr. drive for 1.9 miles to Tilden St, make a left into Tilden St., the parking lot is on the left. There is a bathroom available at this point, as we all know. We will be here for about 15 min.
FROM BATHROOM STOP ON TILDEN ST. TO K ST.
-Leaving the parking lot, make a right into Tilden St, towards Beach Dr.
-Make a right into Beach DR. and drive for 1.9 miles, after stop sign it turns into Rock Creek Pkwy.
-Drive into Rock Creek Pkwy., and drive for 1.7 miles and exit into K St.( K St. runs under Whitehurst Fwy).
FROM K ST. TO CANAL RD.
- Drive on K St. for 4 blocks to Wisconsin Ave.
-Make right into Wisconsin Ave. and go up the hill to the traffic light at the intersection of Wisconsin and M St.
-Make a left into M St. going west. M St turns into Canal Rd after you pass the entrance to Key Bridge on your left .
FROM CANAL RD TO 495 SOUTH AND KILROY'S RESTAURANT
-Continue on Canal Rd for 8 miles to the exit for 495 South, which will put you on 495 South, stay on your center lane on 495.
-Drive 9.2 miles to Braddock Rd west exit. As soon as get off 495 take your left lane, to make a left at the light.
-Kilroy's will be on your right, in a small shopping center.
