We all lucked out at VIR, weather-wise. As Doug said, it rained Saturday morning early, but had quit by the time the track sessions started. The rest of the weekend was beautiful.
I'm happy to report that SPF912 made the trip down to Danville (in caravan with Alan, Doug and Herb), where I slapped a set of Hoosiers on it, drove the crap out of it all weekend (hitting 150mph every lap), put the street tires back on and drove it home without so much as a burp. Gotta love a car that will do that for you!!
Since I was instructing, I had the opportunity to drive several other cars, too, and spend most of the time on the track. I used Mike Stenhouse's car for instruction Saturday afternoon, since he has double roll bars. When I was finished with it, he went out and promptly threw a rod, totalling the motor. But, hey, it wasn't my fault - I never took it over 5 grand, I swear!!
Got the chance to drive a couple of S-1's (fun little go-carts) and the Olthoff's 585HP demo car (which was good for 160mph up the straight). All in all, an amusing weekend.
Special thanks to Doug for transporting wheel & tires, tools, etc.
See you all at grease-up.
