Okay Mechiantics! What are your magic tricks for removing the pilot bearing bushing?
I used the bolt/washer/nut trick yo get the pilot bearing out. But going to a lager nut/washer didn’t work on the bushing. Not enough purchase on the back side. Tried the bread trick...just made a mess on the floor. Went to the grease trick. Just made a mess in general.
I’ve ordered a removal tool. I’m just hoping the teeth will get enough grab on the back.

All the youtubers make it look easy. Fake news!

Any ideas?

I bought a cheap pilot bearing remover to do just this job on my old Ford truck. It worked well. I think I tried the grease trick, as well. It didn't work.

I’ve got one on the way. My concern is the lack of a ridge on the backside of 5he bushing.
We’ll see!
 
I have used bread with mixed results. I have the puller if you get tired of waiting. You may want to try a little heat to help it. If you use bread and heat you get toast :)
 
I used a puller several times on Windsor bearings and FE bushings. Had to "machine " the end to fit, and got it to work.
 
I had to bust out the roller bearings first to get a perfectly round bearing race that I put my Grease&plunger into. You need a hydraulic seal, but with that it was a couple of taps to get the race out.

Already tried it. No budgy!
I got the tool yesterday. I’m going to have to modify the ends a bit to fit into the two notches on the back side of the bushing. Right now, they are too large and round to get a purchase. If that doesn’t work...Phil, I’ll be giving you a call! Run now!
